(P-L-42) Alarm Design and Development I & II(Two day class) 16 Hours This class will introduce students to the various aspects of burglar alarm design and development. Students will learn about the various types of detection equipment including contacts, glass break sensors, passive infrared detectors, dual-tech detectors and smoke and heat detectors. The student will learn about the applications of hardwired and wireless systems. The student will learn about the various specialized tools and labor saving devices used in burglar alarm system installation. Installation in existing applications and pre-wire for new construction will be discussed. Control Panels, installation of a PC board in an enclosure, programming, communication formats and monitoring station procedures will be covered. Upon completion of the class the student will be able to identify the various types of detection equipment and utilize the proper tools to properly install a hardwire or wireless alarm system. The information presented will be useful in preparing for PRP Section L-42. ALOA members who pay the additional lab fee for the test may take PRP Section L-42 at the end of the class.
